Computational Engineering Science
is a study program at Engineering Science Department, University of Tehran, College of Engineering one of the leading technical Engineering Colleges in Iran.
Technical problems are increasingly solved with the help of capable/efficient computers. The reason for this is raising profitability due to a reduced need for prototypes and extensive scientific discoveries achieved in much shorter time. But there is the lack of qualified staff capable of operating more effective computers.
So the study Computational Engineering is designed to educate engineers who have the capability of carrying out simulations and evaluating them. They will be equipped with the necessary fundamental knowledge in natural sciences, engineering and mathematics to analyze results and to critically question the simulation algorithm or the mathematical model. Additionally CES - engineers are trained how to choose, adaptor program simulation software for a specific problem. These capabilities and also employing High-performance computers in the process are needed to meet the scientific and technological challenges of the future.
It is a complex task finding a mathematical model for the solution and evaluation of technical problems. It should enable the computer to calculate and solve a complex problem under almost realistic conditions. Also a problem is the analysis and evaluation of the ensuring results.
In many branches, e.g. software companies and development departments in the manufacturing industry there is an increasing demand for engineers who have an education in convening engineering, computational science, computer science and mathematics.
